“Piers Morgan Criticizes Erik ten Hag for Jadon Sancho Omission and Training Critique, Drawing Parallels with Past Ronaldo Saga at Manchester United”
Piers Morgan has voiced his discontent with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag for excluding Jadon Sancho from the squad for the Arsenal game and subsequently criticizing the player’s training performances. Sancho swiftly responded with a statement on social media, strongly implying his disagreement with Ten Hag’s comments regarding his training efforts.
Morgan expressed sympathy for Sancho and shared his criticism of Ten Hag during an interview with talkSPORT. He also attributed blame to the manager for his handling of Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure last season. Morgan argued that Ten Hag should accept some responsibility for recurring issues with his players, likening the Sancho situation to the Ronaldo saga from almost a year ago.
He stated, “There is something inherently wrong with United, and if you look back to my interview with Cristiano Ronaldo, pretty much everything he said about Manchester United, the club, structure, Ten Hag, all of those chickens have come home to roost.”
Morgan continued, “Everything he said was right, and I think if you look at the issue with Jadon Sancho, then this is Ronaldo all over again. Him [Ten Hag] going public and criticizing players. Players deeming he is being misleading about them, and then having to go public themselves. It comes to a point when Ten Hag needs to look at himself.”
Morgan also criticized Ten Hag’s suitability for such a significant managerial role, citing statistics that under Ten Hag, Manchester United has not defeated a single top-half team away from home since his appointment as manager.
He concluded, “I think the guy if he played the game with the team he talks, he would be the best manager in the world. I just think he is completely out of his depth, I think it is a poor United side, I think they competed for bits of the game yesterday, but in the end, Arsenal were a comfortably better team. More importantly, I think the way Arsenal is now run is a template for where United fans would want their team to be.”
