The Dutch coach believes VAR referee Jarred Gillett saw the ‘wrong angle’ of the slow motion when Alejandro Garnacho’s late goal was ruled offside. Ten Hag also believes that Rasmus Hojlund should have been awarded a penalty.

Ten Hag was angry: “A good performance, we played a good match but everything was against us so we couldn’t win this match. As you saw the match, that goal was not offside , it was the wrong angle, then there had to be a penalty for Hojlund. We conceded (Jesus’ goal) but before that there was a foul on Jonny Evans.

Despite admitting defeat, coach Ten Hag was still satisfied with his students’ performance: “I think this is a real step forward and I’m satisfied with that performance. We played more tightly and defended.” very good both up and down the line. The players were calm with the ball and I clearly saw we could have played better. Seeing how we counter-attacked, we could have created more danger.” .

Regarding new signing Rasmus Hojlund, who came on in the 67th minute, Ten Hag commented: “I think he played very well but I also think Anthony Martial put in a very impressive performance. We have to improve. . But you saw last year, we could beat all our opponents.”

Roy Keane also gave his opinion on this controversial match: “I agree with him, there are a lot of positive things, he (Ten Hag) is disappointed with decisions, but sometimes they support you , sometimes they turn against you.
