Lisbon (AFP) – Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in Portugal’s squad for the forthcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Slovakia and Luxembourg.
Portugal, the former European champions, currently leads Group J in the qualifiers for next year’s finals in Germany. They are set to face Slovakia in Bratislava next Friday, followed by a home match against Luxembourg three days later.
Portugal’s coach, Roberto Martinez, expressed his delight at having Cristiano Ronaldo in the team, highlighting Ronaldo’s exceptional achievement of reaching 200 international appearances. Ronaldo, now playing in Saudi Arabia, marked his 200th international cap with a decisive goal in a 1-0 victory over Iceland in June.
Martinez has also called up Saudi-based midfielders Otavio and Ruben Neves and handed an uncapped opportunity to Wolves full-back Toti.
