Jamie Carragher believes that Manchester City’s frontman, Erling Haaland, has the potential to improve even further. Carragher shared his opinion during an interview with Sky Sports when asked if there is more to come from the £51.2 million-rated player.
Erling Haaland earned the label of “amazing” from Ilkay Gundogan and made a significant impact last season, putting himself in the conversation for the world’s best player. He played a pivotal role in Manchester City’s treble-winning campaign, scoring 53 goals in 52 games.
In the current season, the 23-year-old has already found the net three times in Manchester City’s first three Premier League matches.
Jamie Carragher expressed his belief in Haaland’s potential for further improvement, stating, “I think so. He’s still a young player. He’s doing things he hasn’t been asked to do before. He wants to be more involved in the build-up. Can they actually get more out of him? The way City and Haaland play, he wants it a bit earlier. He wants that Kevin de Bruyne pass a little bit more.”
Carragher added, “There’s no better person for him to be working with than Pep Guardiola, one of the best managers in football.”
Erling Haaland’s room for improvement is a daunting prospect for opposition defenses. Already considered one of the top strikers in the world, he has the potential to further enhance his game.
Haaland’s areas for improvement include his play with his back to the goal, first touch, and overall ball possession, which is natural for a player of his age. Nevertheless, he has been steadily developing his all-round skills, and Carragher’s assessment suggests that Haaland could continue to refine his game as he progresses in his career.
