According to David Bernabeu Reverter of SPORT, Manchester United have reportedly made an official bid to sign Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso. Alonso is currently under contract with Barcelona.
Alonso, who is 32 years old, has been playing for Barcelona ever since he made the move from Chelsea in the summer of 2017. While there, he has had a prominent position in Xavi Hernandez’s system.
However, it appears that things have changed for the veteran this season as he was left unregistered for the first two games of the campaign. This indicates that things look to have changed for him.
And in his first game of the 2023/24 season, which took place Friday night against Villarreal, the Spanish left back was put through a challenging performance.
The arrival of Joao Cancelo may pave the way for Alonso to leave the team.It is common knowledge that Barcelona is attempting to get Joao Cancelo, and if one is to believe the rumors, the arrival of the Portuguese international player might make it possible for Alonso to depart from the club.
And Manchester United have shown that they are interested in acquiring Alonso’s services by presenting themselves as a potential suitor.
The interest of the Red Devils in the player who formerly played for Chelsea was brought to light this past Sunday after injuries were sustained by Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

In point of fact, the terms that the Premier League heavyweights are willing to offer for the services of the 32-year-old player have been communicated to the Blaugrana.
Additionally interested was Atletico Madrid. The source notes, on the other hand, that Manchester United are not the only team with an interest in Alonso’s talents.
Atletico Madrid, for one, has been mentioned as a potential suitor for the experienced Spanish international player. In addition, in light of Barcelona’s keen interest in Joao Felix, it is not possible to rule out the potential of the Catalan club including Alonso as part of a deal to acquire the Portuguese player.
At this moment, there is no telling what will happen with Alonso and his future; it is fair to say that all possibilities are still on the table.
