One highly skilled player who has been associated with a potential move to Anfield recently is Benjamin Pavard, a defender from Bayern Munich and France. Last month, Christian Falk reported on GiveMeSport that discussions had taken place between Liverpool and Pavard’s management regarding a possible transfer to Anfield. Currently, Pavard, who is versatile enough to play as a right-back or center-back, is actively searching for a new club.

Meanwhile, Liverpool is grappling with limited defensive options at the moment. Furthermore, there are concerns about Ibrahima Konate’s availability for Sunday’s match against Newcastle. Strengthening their defensive squad before the transfer window closes would undoubtedly benefit Liverpool.

In the case of Pavard, Inter Milan seems to be leading the race for his signature at this juncture. It’s been reported that they have reached a tentative agreement with Bayern for approximately £27.5 million. However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

Bayern’s manager, Thomas Tuchel, has now shed light on the Pavard situation. He stated, “Pavard requested a transfer, but the request came quite late, which surprised me. Benjamin is a crucial player; he featured in over 80% of our matches last year. We need a replacement who can provide assurances, and we must consider the club’s interests. His desire to depart is one aspect, and then there’s the contractual aspect. It needs to make sense for the club, and a replacement must be secured.”

Since there’s no formal agreement in place as of now, Liverpool might want to consider making their own move and approaching Pavard.
