Cristiano Ronaldo executed a remarkable assist for Sadio Mane, propelling Al Nassr to a 1-0 lead on Friday night.
In their third Saudi Pro League match of the season against Al Fateh, Luis Castro’s team found the back of the net through their summer acquisition, Mane, who secured his second goal for the club.
The former Liverpool forward displayed exquisite finesse with a delicate chipped finish in the 27th minute. Notably, it was Ronaldo’s individual brilliance that set up the opportunity, playing a perfectly placed pass into Mane’s path.
Ronaldo himself extended the lead to 2-0 shortly after with a straightforward header from close range. Al Nassr was now on track to secure their first victory of the new league season after suffering two consecutive defeats to Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq and Al Taawoun.
Previously, Al Nassr had clinched the Arab Club Champions Cup, with Ronaldo earning the Golden Boot after a 2-1 victory over Al Hilal in the final.
In a recent match in the Asian Champions League, Al Nassr faced a challenging situation when they trailed 2-1 to UAE’s Al Shabab as the game neared its conclusion. However, the hosts mounted a remarkable comeback, with Sultan Al Ghannam equalizing in the 88th minute. Anderson Talisca then delivered a crucial goal in the 95th minute, and Marcelo Brozovic secured a 4-2 victory with a long-range strike.
Ronaldo experienced some frustration earlier in the game when he was denied two penalty appeals in the first half. One was for a clear handball that blocked his acrobatic effort, while the other occurred when he was obstructed inside the penalty area. At halftime, the Portuguese superstar was seen expressing his displeasure to an official, urging them to “wake up” and exclaiming, “F***ing hell!”
Furthermore, he had an encounter with a nearby spectator who attempted to take a selfie, resulting in Ronaldo pushing the individual.
