According to today’s edition of Nice-Matin, French defender Jean-Clair Todibo is reportedly feeling unsettled at Nice due to interest in a transfer from Manchester United. Todibo presently plays for Nice.
Throughout the course of this month, the Red Devils have been mentioned in conjunction with the central defender on multiple times, and L’Equipe just reported that he is quite close to signing with the club.
It is currently being said that the player, who formerly played for Barcelona, is ‘unsettled’ at the Ligue 1 club. This comes as a result of the shifting interest shown by Erik ten Hag’s team.
There is “uncertainty” around his future as we approach into the final few days of the transfer window, despite the fact that a move to Old Trafford appears to be a remote possibility at the moment.
The signing of Todibo by United is contingent on Maguire leaving the club.
In the beginning of this month, Manchester United had their sights set on bringing in Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich, but their plans were derailed when Harry Maguire decided to remain with his current club.
United and West Ham United came to a verbal agreement to part ways with their former captain, but the 30-year-old player declined to negotiate details of his departure with the Hammers. The agreement to part ways was made by United and West Ham United.
As a direct consequence of this, they were unable to pursue their interest in Pavard. Inter and Bayern Munich have reached a preliminary agreement about the transfer of the player, but Bayern is unwilling to sell without a suitable replacement.
While all is going on, United has decided to go with Todibo as their backup plan. It was just recently announced that Ten Hag discussed the project in detail with the Frenchman.
Todibo appears to be interested in making the move as well; however, it is highly doubtful that a transfer will take place until Maguire departs the club on a permanent basis within the next few days.
As a result of having to deal with issues pertaining to financial fair play, United’s hands are currently bound. They need the money from the sale of Maguire to be able to afford Todibo, who is worth forty million euros.
