Edin Dzeko has expressed his belief that Erling Haaland, the superstar of Manchester City, is destined to become one of the world’s top strikers for the next decade.
When asked about the distinctions between Erling Haaland and Karim Benzema, Dzeko offered high praise for Haaland, while also outlining the differences between him and the Al-Ittihad standout. Dzeko’s words echo the sentiments of Sergio Aguero, who labeled Haaland as an ‘elite player.’
Recently, the 23-year-old was nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award. Haaland, originally from Leeds, made a spectacular debut at Manchester City, achieving a treble and scoring an impressive 52 goals in 53 matches across all competitions.
When discussing Haaland’s qualities in comparison to Benzema, Dzeko stated, “Benzema has been one of the premier strikers over the past decade, while Haaland is poised to become one of the best for the next ten years.
Their styles differ; Haaland possesses an insatiable hunger for goals, a quality I haven’t seen in a player recently, whereas Benzema is renowned for his elegance, technical prowess, and overall quality.”
Erling Haaland’s potential to surpass all previous strikers in the sport is not unfounded. Although there is room for improvement in his technical skills and play with his back to the goal, he may already be the most prolific natural goal-scorer in the history of the game.
Especially when compared to strikers from the past, few names come close to matching Haaland’s level at his age.
As long as Haaland maintains his fitness and form, his potential remains sky-high, and he could ultimately be remembered as the greatest No.9 to have ever graced the game.
