Sergino Dest, a disgraced defender for FC Barcelona, has been officially announced to have left the team and joined PSV Eindhoven on a season-long loan agreement.
The deal gives the Dutch Eredivisie team the option to buy the team permanently, with the Blaugrana keeping a potential sell-on percentage if the transfer is made permanent.
The transfer of footballer Sergio Dest from FC Barcelona to PSV Eindhoven has been agreed upon through June 30, 2024. There is a purchasing option for the Dutch club. FC Barcelona reserves a portion of any future player sales, according to the statement.
Dest was given the chance to improve things at Barcelona during preseason after returning from a poor loan stint at AC Milan.
However, that was not to be, and it soon became apparent that he would be moving once more. The Blaugrana had to settle for another loan exit even though they would have wanted a permanent departure.
The 22-year-old has signed for the Eredivisie team on a loan deal with a purchase option, which is reportedly worth around €10 million, despite OGC Nice and two other teams reportedly showing interest over the weekend.
Dest will now go back to his roots by playing for AFC Ajax, the primary rivals of the team he supported as a child in the Netherlands.
After a generally unsuccessful time in Barcelona since joining the team in 2020, the 22-year-old right-back will be trying to restart his career.
