Why is there no penalty for Man Utd?

Referee Michael Oliver said no penalty for the situation where Cristian Romero of Tottenham let the ball touch his hand in the penalty area.

Man Utd has a trip that is predicted to be very difficult before Tottenham.

From the beginning of the match, the two teams played fiercely with a series of fouls on the opponent’s side.

Man Utd was slightly better about the first 30 minutes with sharp situations on the ball.

There, a controversial ball occurred in the 26th minute of the match.

Alejandro Garnacho has the ball on the left wing in the direction of Man Utd’s attack.

After a few touches of the ball, the young Argentine talent hit a decisive shot.

Notably, Garnacho’s shot sent the ball to Romero’s outstretched right arm.

A situation that is supposed to be an obvious penalty. VAR has also stepped in. However, it was quite surprising when the referee Michael Oliver determined that it was not the fault of the Tottenham player.

The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell even wondered why there was no penalty in this situation. Gary Neville confirmed: “Both of his arms were raised.”

According to Sky Sports, it is possible that Romero did not do it intentionally and that it was just a natural swinging situation. Therefore, the referee has absolutely a reason to ignore, not to give Man Utd 11m. However, any explanation is difficult for Man Utd stars.

In the first half, the two teams played tit-for-tat, attractive tit-for-tat but no goals were scored.

In the last minutes, the Red Devils were even lucky with two situations where the ball hit the crossbar and the post of Spurs in a row.
