Kevin De Bruyne has had surgery on his hamstring: ‘News of injury was a physical and mental blow’

Kevin De Bruyne has had surgery after his hamstring injury. The Red Devil was injured in the opener of the new Premier League season against Burnley. For a moment it was doubted whether surgery was necessary, but he has now successfully endured it. “I’m ready to get back to work soon,” De Bruyne shares.

“The news after the game against Burnley was a physical and mental blow to me,” writes Kevin De Bruyne  on his Instagram.

After 23 minutes on the field, the midfielder leaned forward and signaled for a substitution.

The worst was feared and confirmed: again the hamstring injury from the Champions League final was the culprit.

Pep Guardiola left it in the middle last week whether De Bruyne needed surgery. He did know that it was a “serious injury”.

KDB himself removes that last doubt: “Now that the operation is over, I am ready to let my body heal and get back to work soon.”

“Thanks for all the support,” ends the Red Devil, who will be sidelined at Manchester City for months.
