Kylian Mbappe has been’reinstated’ to Paris Saint-Germain’s first team after ‘positive’ talks

The decision comes after PSG drew 0-0 with Lorient in their first game of the 2023/24 season on Saturday.

The star forward was not listed to the matchday squad because, due to a contract dispute, he was training separately from the rest of the club. He sat in the stands, watching his team struggle to score in his absence.

Mbappe was forced to train with PSG’s ‘undesirables’, which included Neymar, after refusing to sign a contract extension.

His current contract is set to expire in less than a year, and he has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

He has returned to first-team training, though, with PSG confirming ‘good’ conversations between the club and the player.

“Following very constructive and positive discussions between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappe before the PSG – Lorient game, the player has been reinstated into the first team training squad this morning,” the statement reads.

Mbappe will train with the first squad on Sunday and might make his debut the following Saturday against Toulouse.

Because he missed the club’s pre-season tour of Asia, he hasn’t had much time to train at PSG.

The France international has been the subject of intense transfer rumor, with some suggesting he could join Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.

Naturally, PSG would love to avoid a situation in which he leaves on a free transfer since they want to be compensated for their best asset.

Al Hilal, a Saudi Arabian club, made a huge £259 million bid for Mbappe, but he turned it down.

According to sources, the World Cup winner may be willing to extend his contract at PSG, and Neymar is reportedly close to an agreement with Al Hilal.
