In the summer of 2023, Joao Felix will be a free agent and can leave Atletico Madrid to sign with Barcelona.
Felix wants out of his Atletico deal and onto Barca’s roster.
It had been speculated that Barcelona would target Felix this summer in the event that a transfer for Neymar failed to materialize. Barca’s reported pursuit of Felix resurfaced after the Brazilian player made his debut with the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal yesterday.
When the teenager returned to the Metropolitano for Atletico Madrid’s season opener against Granada, he was met with a fairly harsh reception. The home crowd booed him relentlessly.
According to the Spanish publication LaSexta, the Portuguese player Felix is contemplating leaving Rojiblancos in light of his recent struggles.
Felix had already communicated his desire to play for Barcelona. The Catalunya squad will continue to pursue Felix as they search for offensive reinforcements.
Due to the club’s continuing financial woes, Barca will likely view Felix’s release from his contract with Atletico and subsequent free transfer to the club as a desirable acquisition. The 23-year-old has a deal with Atletico that will keep him there until 2027. Because of this, getting your hands on him directly is next to impossible.
With the summer transfer window for the 2023–2024 season closing in less than two weeks, Felix and his agency will need to move quickly.
