According to Sergi Capdevila of SPORT, Barcelona’s new summer signing Inigo Martinez is likely not going to be able to participate in the La Liga opening as things now stand.

Inigo Martinez has not yet trained with the team as a whole.Martinez was a free agent when he signed with Barcelona a month ago after his previous deal with Athletic Club, where he had previously played, came to an end.

Nevertheless, despite having been with the club for about a month, the experienced center-back has not yet taken part in any group training sessions with the rest of the squad.

Instead, the Spanish international has been focusing primarily on his own individual workouts as he continues to recuperate from the fascia injury he sustained while he was still playing for Athletic during the previous season.

Martinez did not play a single minute on Barcelona’s preseason tour of the United States, which consisted of three friendlies against Arsenal, Real Madrid, and AC Milan. This was due to the fact that the club was in no hurry to hasten his recovery, thus they sat him out entirely.

Martinez has not yet returned to training, thus for the time being, it is assumed that he will not be able to participate in the encounter against Getafe.

It is anticipated that Gavi and Gundogan will return to the team soon.

Gavi, who was also a famous name but did not play a single minute on the US trip due to a back ailment, was one of the players who did not earn any playing time alongside Martinez.
