The Dutch midfielder is considered a strong candidate to take over the Liverpool captaincy from Jordan Henderson.

In an interview before the friendly against Leicester, Van Dijk  paid tribute to Jordan Henderson, who left Liverpool to join Al Ettifaq club.

“Obviously he will remind us a lot, as a player and for sure as a leader and a captain, someone who was very important to us and has been successful in this game. club over the years,” shared the Dutch midfielder.

Van Dijk is considered a bright candidate for the Liverpool captaincy next season.

Henderson, James Milner and Roberto Firmino have all left this summer, but Van Dijk is confident the rest of the Kop can take over as club captain .
