Michael Jordan’s iconic 1996 Mercedes-Benz – seen in The Last Dance – for sale for $23!

In contrast to the thousands, if not millions of dollars that Michael Jordan memorabilia often fetches at auction, his 1996 Mercedes-Benz S600 Lorinser is being offered for sale this weekend for just $23.

The price pays respect to Jordan’s legendary jersey number from his time with the Chicago Bulls, which helped elevate both his and the NBA’s reputation around the world by helping him win six NBA championships.

On Saturday in Chicago, at The National Sports Collectors Convention, it will be put up for auction. According to the livestream marketplace WhatNot, which is organizing the auction, the item is expected to fetch $120,000.

Even in The Last Dance, the vehicle can be seen in the scene where Jordan drives away from reporters as they question him about retirement rumors.

Although Jordan has owned supercars like a Porsche and a Ferrari in the past, fans have grown to recognize him for his Mercedes Benz because of how subtle it is in comparison to some of the other cars he has owned.

Michael Jordan’s Mercedes-Benz S60 is going up for sale for just $23 this weekend

Jordan owned the car in the mid-nineties during the golden years of his NBA career

The $23 pricing is in reference to the number on his former Chicago Bulls jersey.

The interior of the metallic blue car contains dark gray leather seats and a car phone that still bears Jordan’s name. The dashboard also bears his name.

But given that his jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals sold for a staggering $10.1 million in September of last year, the low price it can sell for is astounding.

The 1996 Mercedes-Benz S600 Lorinser that basketball legend Michael Jordan previously had is being offered to fans for the amazing price of just $23, according to the WhatNot website.

For collectors and enthusiasts alike, this car “represents the pinnacle of Michael Jordan memorabilia” and is a “must-have.”

There are still 48 hours for any possible bidders to express interest, according to a statement posted on WhatNot’s Instagram page on Thursday.

A buyer will be chosen at random to make the purchase once interested parties input a drop on the What Not app for free.

However, selling it has historically proven to be more difficult than many might have anticipated.

Jordan sold the car in 2003 and since then, a number of potential sales have fallen through

During his playing career, Jordan led the Bulls to six NBA titles in an era of supreme dominance

In 2020, the car was sold on ebay for $202,000 but a deal was never completed as the buyer could not gather the funds.

According to AutoEvolution, Jordan owned the car until 2003 and the Beverley Hills Car Club tried to sell it last year for $135,000.

But for $23, it should be easy enough for a buyer to claim their own piece of Jordan’s fabled history in American sports.
