No longer a speculation, the owner of Man City recently confirmed the departure of striker Riyad Mahrez to move to Al Ahli club.

On the evening of July 28, the homepage of the Manchester City club confirmed the farewell to striker Riyad Mahrez after 5 years of attachment. The Algerian player will move to the Arab team Al Ahli.

Sharing about the decision to leave The Citizens, Mahrez said: “It is an honor and privilege to play for Manchester City. I came to Man City to win trophies and enjoy my football, I have won. get all that and more. 

I spent five unforgettable years with the club, working with incredible players, amazing fans and the best coach in the world. Manchester City will forever be a huge and happy part of my life.”

 

Mahrez joined the Etihad Stadium team in 2018 from Leicester City. After 5 years with Man City, he has played 236 times and scored 78 goals – adding 59 more for his teammates.

Mahrez is loved by Man City fans for his technical goals, especially his beautiful left foot handling. The 33-year-old striker has also been voted Player of the Month 7 times at Etihad, with the club conquering 11 noble titles, including the great treble in the 2022/23 season.

Moving to Al Ahli, Riyad Mahrez will help the old club collect £ 30 million in transfer fees. The Algerian player will sign a 4-year contract with the rich Arab team, earning a salary of £ 25 million/year.

At the new club, Mahrez will become teammates with a number of other Premier League stars such as Roberto Firmino, Edouard Mendy or Allan Saint-Maximin, who also joined Al Ahli this summer.
