defender DeAndre Yedlin revealed rookie Lionel Messi gave pink and black headphones to all Inter Miami members as a debut gift.
Yedlin wore Inter Miami’s iconic pink and black headphones in an interview after the victory over Atlanta United in the J Leagues Cup group on the morning of July 26.
When asked about these new headphones, the 30-year-old American defender replied: “You have to ask Messi. He gave it to the whole team. I don’t know if Messi bought these headphones or not, but he did. He gave the whole team this headset after the debut.”
Not only getting sympathy in the dressing room, Messi also impressed his new teammates with sublime performances on the field. In his debut, he entered the field from the 54th minute and then scored a great free-kick in the fourth minute to seal a 2-1 victory over Cruz Azul. In the next match against Atlanta United, the Argentine star contributed two goals and one assist to help Inter Miami win 4-0 .
Cruz Azul and Atlanta United are the 99th and 100th clubs, respectively, that Messi has conceded in his club career, while playing for Barca, PSG and now Inter Miami . Sevilla and Atletico top this list with 38 and 32 times conceded by the Argentine star, respectively. At the European level, Arsenal is the team that has been ripped by Messi the most with nine times.
The owner of the seven Golden Balls also gave a lucky red bracelet to Argentina teammate Paulo Dybala and former Barca teammate Philippe Coutinho. The bracelet is of Jewish origin, believed to have the effect of warding off bad luck. Messi has been to Jerusalem (Israel) many times – which is considered the Holy Land of the Jews.
