Nathan Ake received a huge contract from Man City to become one of the tallest Dutch players in the Premier League

According to recent reports, Nathan Ake is on the verge of penning a brand-new long-term contract with Manchester City.

The Dutchman is coming off his greatest season at the Etihad Stadium ever, making 41 appearances across all competitions as they won a historic treble. During that time, they won the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League.

Although there are still two years left on Ake’s current deal, the current Premier League champions are eager to lock down the 28-year-old defender’s future with the club.

According to a report by Fabrizio Romano, the club and Ake have come to an agreement, and the terms of a new contract are expected to be finalized within the next few days.

After discussions earlier this week, he asserts that they have come to a verbal agreement over a new long term arrangement, which will result in an increase to his present wage. This deal will also be in place.

The excellent development that Manchester City has made over the course of the previous seasons is reportedly going to be rewarded with a new contract for Nathan Ake by the club.

The current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025, and the employee is being compensated at a rate of almost 150,000 euros per week.

The contributions of a huge contract will be rewarded by Man City with a remuneration of approximately 190 thousand euros per week, and the deal will be extended for an additional two years to the summer of 2027.

According to reports from De Telegraaf, Head Coach Pep Guardiola has personally conveyed to the higher-ups at the club that Nathan Ake is an extremely valuable member of the team.

Ake limped off with an injury during Man City’s pre-season win against Bayern Munich

Ake has made 81 appearances in all competitions for Man City, since he completed a £40m move from Bournemouth in the summer of 2020.

The Dutch international took time to settle to life at the Etihad, making just 24 Premier League appearances across his first two seasons.

Last season though he saw his game time increased as Pep Guardiola often deployed him as a left-back.

After limping off during City’s friendly match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, the club received a fright regarding the fitness of Ake just days before the start of the new season.

After a collision with Bayern’s Kingsley Coman that did not result in serious injury, he was only able to play for the first 30 minutes of City’s 2-1 triumph over the Bundesliga champions in Japan.

Should Ake sustain an injury, the squad may be compelled to acquire Josko Gvardiol, a defender who hails from Croatia.

It was believed that the RB Leipzig center-back was close to making a club-record £90 million deal to join the Etihad in a move that would bring him to Manchester City, but earlier this week, the chief executive officer of the German club revealed that there was no agreement in place between the two teams.
