There has apparently been a significant breakthrough on that front in the wake of Joao Felix’s startling declaration from last night that he would like to sign with Barcelona.
The star player for Atletico Madrid who has been linked with a move to Barcelona revealed that he has always had a desire to play for the Blaugrana and that he would welcome the opportunity to join them.
“Playing for Barcelona is a dream of mine. My first choice has always been Barcelona, and I’d be thrilled to be able to join the club. Since I was a little boy, I’d had this ambition in the back of my mind. It would be the fulfillment of a lifelong wish for me if it could actually take place,” he remarked.
It is common knowledge that the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, is a fan of the forward, and that the club has made past attempts to acquire his services.
Therefore, as a direct result of Felix’s statements from yesterday, reports arose saying that Barcelona were already attempting to find ways to capture the 23-year-old player within the current transfer window.
Now, Manu Sainz of AS has provided an update on the situation. He states that Atletico Madrid have given Felix the green light to join Barcelona this summer on a loan move with an option to purchase. The transaction will be structured as a loan with an option to purchase.
There is also speculation that the deal would be compatible with the financial reality of the La Liga winners, and it is possible that things may move quickly over the course of the next week or two.
During the winter transfer window in 2022, there was serious consideration given to Joao Felix joining Barcelona. Before Los Rojiblancos pulled out of the project, the two clubs had reached an agreement over a shared-ownership plan that would have benefited both organizations.
However, the 23-year-old has not stopped fantasizing about moving to the Catalan giants in recent years. And now, that ambition has a decent possibility of becoming a reality, as Atletico Madrid is open to the idea of authorizing his transfer to Barcelona on the condition that the deal includes a loan-to-buy provision.
According to a different report that was published by Mundo Deportivo, the Los Colchoneros were incensed by Felix’s words and said that he had disrespected the club by making those statements.
While everything is going on, the Metropolitano is sending out the following message: “The player’s agent knows exactly the requirements that must be met for Joao to be permitted to leave the club. We will have no further comments to make on this subject from this point forward.”
Atletico Madrid would be solving a problem for themselves by getting rid of the forward Felix given the fact that he and Diego Simeone have had a falling out. On the other hand, if Felix has a successful season in Barcelona, it might also increase his value for the future.
It is an opportunity for the Blaugrana to sign a talented player on loan at a minimal cost, and if everything works out, there will be significant advantages for the squad if the move is successful.
