Andre Onana has been described as a goalkeeper with “extraordinary qualities” after moving to Manchester United.

Man United bought the 27-year-old Cameroonian on a five-year deal. Onana is signed to replace David de Gea, who left Old Trafford earlier this summer. Onana flew to the United States to reunite with her new comrades.

Ten Hag knows Onana very well. They worked together at Ajax, Onana moved to Amsterdam in 2015 after he left Barcelona.

Onana was used to Ten Hag’s style.

Onana is expected to add offensive ability from the backline to the Reds. It’s not easy, though, and Onana made such a mistake on his Ajax youth team debut. He lost control of the ball which resulted in the opponent scoring.

Hennie Spijkerman, assistant coach of Ajax’s first team at the time, told the Premier League’s website: “Maybe he wanted to prove himself. He made a lot of foot errors and was restless when he tripped in the box. You wondered where he would end up.”

“He developed very well after that. In the early days he could be a bit wild at times, but you can tell he’s an exceptional goalkeeper with extraordinary qualities. You can see he’s a big athlete, very proficient with the ball at his feet and has great reflexes . “
