The past three months have been quite successful for the Philadelphia 76ers’ star forward Joel Embiid.
After winning the NBA Most Valuable Player title in May, the Cameroonian native tied the knot with Anne de Paula, a former model for Sports Illustrated, two months later.
Embiid and de Paula, both of whom are 28 and 29 years old, respectively, were declared to be husband and wife in the town of Southampton in the state of New York.
Photos that were uploaded to the Facebook page of Michael D. Ratner, a friend and film producer, suggest that De Paula and Embiid got married in a place of worship. Embiid was seen smiling with his blushing wife, who was dressed in a gown that featured progressive design. He was clothed in a white tuxedo and a bow tie at the time of the sighting.
Embiid was awarded the one and only ring of his professional career during the course of the event. The Philadelphia 76ers’ game against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinal in May came to an unsuccessful conclusion. There is a great deal of anxiety over the future of Philadelphia. It is possible that James Harden will leave, and Joel Embiid expressed his “disappointment” upon learning that “The Beard” desired to leave the team.
Embiid has expressed how much winning the NBA championship would meαn to him and even hinted that he might be ready to leave the Philadelphia 76ers at some time.
“I only want to take home a championship.” In an interview with Maverick Carter that took place on Thursday at the UNINTERRUPTED Sports Film Festival, Embiid remarked, “Whatever it takes.” I have no idea where it will be; whether it’s in Philadelphia or somewhere else, all I want is the chance to make that happen.
“You can think about the next one after I see how it feels to win that first one.” Even if it’s difficult, more than one, two, or three guys are needed. You need to surround yourself with wonderful people, and I work hard every day to reach that level so I can make it happen. So, I strive to achieve that every day.
When other players are suggested for MVP, Embiid said he ‘loves the challenge’ of having to outperform them.
I’m incredibly blessed, I understand the business, and it’s fun at the end of the day, Embiid added.
