Bayern Munich aims to recruit Liverpool’s Fabinho, if the Brazilian midfielder’s deal to Al-Ittihad falls apart.
After letting Arsenal buy Declan Rice, it was still difficult to convince Real Madrid to cede Aurelien Tchouameni at a comfortable price, the latest name that caught the attention of the Gray Lobster was Liverpool’s Fabinho.
According to Sky Sport Germany, Bayern have an eye on Fabinho, and are ready to sign the midfielder if he cannot join Al-Ittihad. The Saudi Pro League club approached Fabinho first and reached a personal agreement with the Brazilian midfielder. Al-Ittihad has made an offer of £40m, but has not yet received a nod from Liverpool.
Bayern Munich are desperate to recruit a defensive midfielder to partner Joshua Kimmich, allowing the German midfielder to move forward to take advantage of his good attack. Midfielders like Goretzka, Sabitzer, Gravenberch all did not meet the requirements. Meanwhile, rookie Konrad Laimer needs time to verify. That’s why Bayern constantly target the “number 6”, from Declan Rice, Sofyan Amrabat to Aurelien Tchouameni.
Last season, Fabinho was not so impressive, dragging Liverpool’s performance down. However, this midfielder is at the maturity of his career. With a price tag of £42 million (according to Transfermarkt), he is considered to be a good fit for what Bayern are looking for. However, Bayern will have to be faster and more decisive when Al-Ittihad has great support from the Saudi government.
Besides Fabinho, Bayern Munich is also trying to complete the Harry Kane deal. The Gray Lobster has just received good news when the English striker decided not to renew his contract with Tottenham but still need to convince the London team, specifically chairman Daniel Levy, to sell Kane.
