The 2023–24 Manchester City Home uniform has just been unveiled by PUMA, marking the club’s historic relocation to the Etihad Stadium 20 years ago.

The shirt worn during the first season at the new ground served as inspiration for the kit, which pays homage to the iconic elements of the stadium.

After 80 years at Maine Road, Manchester City made the historic transfer to the Etihad Stadium in August 2003, which was three and a half miles away.

The club entered a new era with this transfer that was characterized by new records, new legends, and memorable moments. The 2023–24 Home uniform honors the Etihad Stadium and all of its residents as a memorial to this tradition.

The four enormous towers that can be seen from the stadium’s exterior and which form the tonal stripes on the jersey’s front graphic were the inspiration for the design of the new Home jersey.

To commemorate 20 years at City’s new home, the postcode of the stadium is emblazoned on the back of the neck. The white V-neck collar of the jersey was inspired by the 2003–04 Home jersey, which was the first uniform worn at the new stadium.

As part of the kit launch, PUMA and Manchester City invited a number of fans and club representatives to appear alongside first team men’s and women’s players captured in the campaign’s lead visual, including young City fan and City in the Community participant Finlay, CITC Ambassador Alex Williams MBE, young female fan Esme, and Mark McCarthy, a collector of Manchester City shirts.

Shaun Wright-Phillips, a club ambassador who played for Manchester City’s initial team at the Etihad Stadium in 2003–04, said: “The Etihad Stadium has a significant place in Manchester City’s history.

“It’s wonderful that PUMA used it as inspiration for this year’s Home kit because players and fans will cherish the moments shared there.

“I’m tremendously proud to have played in that inaugural season at the Etihad and donned the Manchester City jersey. As it did for me, I hope this year’s shirt brings back many memories for our supporters.

“Celebrating the club’s amazing rise over that time period, the 20th anniversary of our move to the Etihad Stadium is a momentous occasion. “The jersey combines contemporary design cues with tributes to the club’s first season at the new ground, creating a unique and meaningful kit for the players and the fans, celebrating the place they call home,” the statement reads.

City will be celebrating the release of the 2023/24 Home kit with a celebratory metaverse event on their Roblox experience, Blue Moon, in order to build on the success of PUMA’s first-ever kit launch in the Metaverse for our 2022/23 Third kit in August of last year.

The Home kit will be offered virtually and with customizable player settings. The Blue Moon event, which you can attend here, will feature digital goods, entertaining quests, photo ops, and special appearances from some of your favorite City players.

The 2023–24 Manchester City Home kit will be available starting on May 19 at PUMA locations, PUMA.com, the City store at the Etihad Stadium Store, mancity.com/shop, and at a few other chosen retailers globally.
