Congratulation Bruno Fernandes! Man Utd officially announced new captain to replace Harry Maguire

Midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been selected as the new official captain of Man Utd, after Harry Maguire was stopped by coach Erik ten Hag a few days ago.

Fernandes, 28, was the unofficial captain of Man Utd last season when he started. At that time, Maguire had to sit on the bench , so the Portuguese midfielder was given the captain’s armband of the Red Devils.

Overall, Fernandes does his job quite well. He has a tenacious, fiery spirit and always knows how to protect his teammates. The fact that the former Sporting Lisbon star was chosen as Man Utd’s new captain was in fact what was expected despite Casemiro, Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw being potential names.

Fernandes joined Man Utd from Sporting in January 2020 for 65 million euros. Since then, he has always been one of the best players of the Red Devils. Last season, Fernandes was recorded as the player who worked the most in Europe’s top 5 leagues, with a total of 5,164 minutes played in 59 matches in all competitions. He pocketed 14 goals and 15 assists, contributing to Man Utd winning the League Cup as well as winning tickets to the Champions League 2023/24.

To date, Fernandes has made 185 appearances for Man Utd, owning 64 goals and 54 assists. He is considered as one of the rare successful signings of the Red Devils in recent years with great contributions. Currently, Fernandes still has a contract with Man Utd until 2026.
