The plan for Joao Felix to move to Barcelona has allegedly been scrapped by Atletico Madrid since the club no longer desires to maintain the Portuguese great player. This information was reported by the Spanish media.
Spanish football – Atletico Madrid’s annoyance led to Felix being transferred to Barcelona.
According to AS, Joao Felix had shown his desire to play for Barcelona by saying things like, “I want to play for Barcelona.” My initial choice has always been Barcelona, and I would really like to play for this team. Since I was a child, I’ve had the goal of one day playing for Barca. If something like this does place, it will make my dream come true.”
The statement made by Joao Felix infuriated the board of directors at Atletico. According to AS, the Madrid club has come to the conclusion that it is in their best interest to let the 23-year-old striker to join Barcelona on a loan with the option to purchase him permanently.
Atletico Madrid would like the transaction to be finalized as quickly as feasible. As a result, the matter of Felix to Barcelona could be resolved as soon as this week. This would make the second time that Felix has been this close to signing with Barcelona. You may recall that Barca and Atletico Madrid came to an agreement on the terms of Felix’s contract during the transfer window last winter. However, Atletico changed their minds about the bet at the very last second, which caused the transaction to fall through.
Now, Felix is poised to go on another loan stint away from Atletico Madrid. The striker, who was 23 years old at the time, was offered to Chelsea during the winter transfer window of this year; however, he was not purchased permanently since he did not match the standards.
When Felix returned from his stint at Chelsea, he found himself without a position at Atletico due to his disagreements with coach Diego Simeone. Because of this, Simeone decided to give Griezmann the Portugal national team’s number 7 shirt instead of keeping it for himself.
